These 360 views are driven by a Java Applet. To work, Java Applets require a Java plug-in to be installed in your browser. Netscape from version 4 usually includes the plug-in, though with version 6 and 7 you may choose not to install it. Internet Explorer also includes a Java plug-in from version 4, though some versions of IE6 may not have it included. Other browsers may not have the plug-in, so you will have to install it. Usually the simplest place to find plug-ins is on the Netscape site, so go to this page and select the MIME type 'application/x-java-applet', and then click 'Search'. Download and save the plug-in and then run 'Open' on the file you saved. Unfortunately the plug-ins are rather large (about 20MB for Linux and about 12MB for Windows). Alternatively, go to the Sun Java Plug-in page here and download and install the Java Run-Time Edition (JRE). Both Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers can be configured to use the JRE and thereby get a more up-to-date version of Java than the one included in the browser. Again, these are rather large files. You can also download JRE 1.3.1 for Windows here (5.2MB). This is not the latest but will run most applets. |
