Our farm New Hanson Grange consists of 320 acres of permanent grassland, descending from 1000ft above sea level to the banks of the River Dove. It is stocked with sheep and pedigree dairy cattle. The farmhouse only dates back to 1883 but the farm itself is mentioned in the Domesday Book as an outlying sheep enclosure connected with the nearby village of Parwich. One area of the farm is designated a site of historical interest as it is the site of an ancient settlement, although there is little to see on the ground. Ancient burial sites or cairns can be seen in various directions from the farm. Our farm has only recently had a mains water supply having previously been supplied by a spring in Dovedale. We are situated near beautiful Milldale,
Dovedale, the Manifold Valley
and the Tissington Trail in the heart of the Peak
District. |
