This ancient custom is only found in Derbyshire. Wessington has natural wells on its main Village Green which were still used in the 1950's. It also has a Nature Reserve which is a Site of Special Importance as declared by English Nature. The village has 5 well dressings.

Glossop Carnival

This annual community event held in Manor Park features many attractions including the Tamesdie Sea Cadets performing the 'Climbing the Rigging' recently performed before H.M. the Queen. There is also a funfair, RSPCA Dog Show, Cheerleaders, Maypole Dancing, lots of live music and a 'Real Ale' tent. There will be lots of stalls, farmers market and crafts.
Parade will commence from the Town hall Car Park at 12 noon and proceed up to Manor Park, led by Oldham Scottish Pipe Band. If you would like to walk in the parade please contact the organiser.
