Riding House Farm - Milkmaid's Cottage
Riding House Farm is a traditional Derbyshire hill farm rearing beef and sheep. It nestles under the Losehill Ridge with wonderful south facing views across the Hope Valley. It is a walkers' paradise with direct access to the footpath network.
Riding House Farm is a working farm of 140 acres. If you bring your wellies you will be able to see the newborn lambs in Spring, visit the calf house and even feed the hens! There is an abundance of wildlife around especially in our own secluded bluebell wood.
Milkmaid's Cottage is a lovely spacious one-bedroom cottage with a 6' bed. It has two bathrooms and an optional double sofa bed in the sitting room for occasional use.
Shepherd's Cottage is a two-bedroom cottage, one double and one twin, with two bathrooms. It is ideal for four people. Many of the original old beams still feature in this cottage.
Both cottages are furnished and equipped to the same high standard with careful attention to detail to make your stay memorable.
Each cottage has full central heating and double glazing, two bathrooms: one upstairs with a bath, basin and WC, and a downstairs shower room with basin and WC.
With TV, CD, DVD in the cosy sitting rooms and oven hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer in the kitchen areas everything is provided for you.
There is also an adjacent laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer for your free use. Wifi also available
Outside is your private parking area with seating to enjoy a barbecue and drink, enjoying the view across the valley.
From your doorstep you can take the footpath directly to Lose Hill Ridge and enjoy another spectacular view over the Edale Valley to the famous Kinder Scout.
David and Denise Matthews have farmed at Riding House for over 20 years. They are the modern day Shepherd and Milkmaid! If needed, they will be on hand to help you make the most of your stay in the Peak District National Park.
